Music: |
Your song unfolds slowly, even as the arrangment
rushes by. The melody is simple, but it does
move consistently in the lead throughout the
track. There isn't much differentiation in
harmonic tone or tempo, so the track is more
like a performance than strictly a song. Still,
there is an magentic appeal generated by your
energy and intent. |

Lyrics:
|
There's a lot of energy in this lyric, but not
that much focused content. The Title "Come To
Me" is very good, but you aren't direct in your
language or your images conceptually. In the
first verse alone you mention seven different
images that neither individually or collectively
have that much to say about the subject of this
song. |

Arrangement &
Production:
|
This is an awesome acoustic treatment of rock.
Even with the electric guitars that come in with
the chorus, the vibe remains "live" and acoustic
in orientation. The mix is a little monchrome,
but it also adds some coherence to the sound.
I'd open it up a little, up the guitars a tad.

Lead Vocal:
|
The vocal sounds a little tight. That may be ok,
because so does Bruce Springsteen. But apart
from the Bruce-Eddie Vedder school of intense
singing, this could benefit from a more open
sound on the voice. Intensity is good, but you
have so much in the instrumental performances
that a more relaxed approach would balance the
track. Think more like Dave Matthews.

Musicianship:
|
This is a big arrangement and all aspects bear
the marks of inspiration and expertise. The
track progresses with graceful power and
rhythmic inevitability. Sort of U2ish but more
acoustically oriented. Only the vocal sounds a
little overwrought. |

Originality:
|
You have melded some elements from rock and folk
into a performance that features your acoustic
guitar as the centerpiece. Not totally original
but not bad these days. Your arrangement and
performance add the most originality here. The
song is good, but not as memorable as a song but
as a performance. |

Marketability:
|
In the post Dave Matthews world, you should have
some eager ears waiting for this one. Still, a
more settled vocal will help this standup to
repeated listenings. You don't have to wimp out,
but here you are straining so hard you're on the
verge of going out of tune. |

General Comments:
|
The music rocks but also has a rustic lilt to
it. Great sonics. |
